When I heard about the arrival of Genuine Bout High School, I was skeptical at first, because of the fact that it was centered around fighting. While I am a great fan of Street Fighter, most fighting animes don’t have any residence, and don’t do well at all. I had heard reliable things about the series, and I had happened to go shopping a day or two after it came out, saw that there was only one copy left, and decided to give it a go.

“Samurai Girl: Steady Bout High School” is about a girl named Ryoko Mitsurugi who is titled as the best fighter at the school, and Is always being challenged by different teams or people — and these fights are actually encouraged by the school board. In the first episode, Ryoko finds a necklace that transports her into an alternate realm to defeat monstors. She later returns and tries to figure out what she had impartial experienced. Ryoko’s rival is Azumi Mitsurugi, and they’re always arguing over a guy named . Although they are rivals, Azumi tells Ryoko that she can learn to reach her skills by becoming the apprientance of a mysterious man named Tessai Onizuka, who teaches her to exhaust her weapon as a sword, and as a stick.

The animation is extremely honorable for a television series, and there weren’t any noticable jumps or rainbows around charectors. Shading is done wonderfully, and colors are luminous and quick-witted.

The menus were done very well and creatively. The menu looks like an actuall fighting video game match going on between Ryoko and Azumi. The sub-menus peruse like options menus and select-a-charector type menus.

The exhibit does a safe job of keeping the mood light without becoming completely flippant, and the episodes really flit by. The fight scenes are the certain standouts, with big choreography and pacing, but the other scenes of character and status building are also done well enough to gain your interest.

The dialogue is actually exquisite quick and witty, and the translation is sparkling helpful, which certainly helps matters. Visually, the prove has nice production values, with well-articulated motion and vibrant, well-organized colors. Character designs are also very well done. The fight scenes in particular are very well done, and the motion in these scenes is easy to follow.If you’re looking for a lighthearted and fun anime with some really well done fighting sequences, you really should check this out. It’s certainly worth a glance.

It’s hard to relate in this review the comedic genius of Wanda Sykes. Her pacing, thunder inflection, body language, and joke & story-telling are perfect throughout this DVD. Wanda’s political observations are poignant and avoid becoming “cheap shots” by applying universal truths to what she sees. “The Gigantic American Broadcast” (20th Century Fox, 1941)

This frothy, energetic comedy is a loose-with-the-facts fictionalization of how radio became the huge medium of the early 20th Century. Robust, good-natured John Payne (sort of the Brendan Fraser of his time) and amusing sidekick Jack Oakie meet up around 1920 as two down-and-out World War One vets who fraction an interest in the then-new radio technology. Payne’s character reach up with the plan that maybe they could employ this newfangled radio stuff to bring entertainment to people all across the country… and then they’re off! Of course, there’s gotta be a girl, too and enter the ever-blonde girl next door, Alice Faye, as the gal they both appreciate. But it ain’t a like triangle — nope! — it’s a square, because rich-cad tycoon Cesar Romero wants her too. This is a pleasantly fast-paced, lighthearted film, packed with better-than-usual performances from Ms. Faye (she and Payne duet quite nicely together) . There are also mountainous cameos from the Ink Spots vocal group, a wonderful (but all-too-brief) dance number from the Nicolas Brothers, and a nice, dewy-eyed version of how radio came to America. In 1941, Alice Faye was at the peak of her success. Her films were usually made to a very successful formula whereby she suffered at the hands of an insensitive leading man – singing through tears. This film adheres rigidly to the cliches, combining scenes from “Alexander’s Ragtime Band” and “Tin Pan Alley”, place to the advent of radio. The merits of the film are obvious:

- first rate direction from Archie Mayo, a more dynamic director than the usual 20th Century Fox house directors. The film moves along with such hurry that the cliches can almost be ignored

- an pleasurable Harry Warren glean, particularly the haunting “Where you Are” which Alice sings in loving conclude up with the Ink Spots harmonising in the background

- outstanding supporting acts including the devastating dancing Nicholas Brothers and the witty and clever Wiere Brothers.

The production values are first rate with that spacious Fox sound and photography. As a history lesson, the script contains its fragment of inaccuracies and Faye’s clothes are 1941 new even though the film starts 20 years earlier but that was all share of the escapism.

The print has been restored and is in colossal condition. A very fascinating documentary is included. It ensures that the current audience understand exactly how significant radio was at the time and why the historical aspects of the film resonated with many members of the audience in 1941. The unique trailer is included and the usual stills and advertising material.

Dont miss this forgotten musical, far more fun than many worthy more pretentious and better known offerings. Alice Faye’s qualities of warmth and naturalness are being rediscovered as well as that delicate assure and this film is a great contributor to her re-birth. The DVD is marvelous value as allotment of the Faye Collection Volume 2.

Now, there are many political debates to be started from “Children of Men” (none of which will I bewitch in here), but what I admired about the film’s screenplay is how focused it is. Without being preachy or appealing in unnecessary “speechifying,” this film plays as straight action. Children of Men unbiased came out today in Spain and it is astonishing.

The record line is totally unique and the acting is advantageous. Clive Owen is bright as a man caught between his sorrow from his past and the hope for a current world future.

The basic premise is station in the year 2027 and 18 years ago women mysteriously stopped being grand of having children. Society has started to crumble because all hope of the future has disappeared.

Owen’s character (Theo), an ex-activist, is pulled into an underground “terrorist” group that has found something that will bring hope to the world; but hidden agendas and distrust are threatening to pull the only hope left apart.

The cinematography and location designs are top notch, and with a supporting cast that includes Michael Caine and Julianne Moore- it only takes a mammoth narrative to that next level of excellence.

Also the soundtrack is really well chosen and they exercise the music to colossal attain in some scenes; for example King Crimson’s “court of the crimson king” is especially effective.

Highly recommended.

I notion I would add that I honest saw the movie for the second time today. The visual poetry and belief provoking ideas have stayed quite strong in my mind since I last saw it in October. The second time around the movie stirred up unprejudiced as many thoughts and emotions as the first.

As some of the other reviewers has mentioned this is a very staunch feeling science fiction. The problems of tomorrow in this film seem to align itself with many of the issues that we are burying ourselves in today like our growing dependency on chemicals (many with unknown side effects), or the demolish that we effect in our environment, and last and certainly paramount, the decreasing faith we have of anything beyond our sciences in which we measure reason, and rely upon.

Children Of Men has become one of my current movies. And I hope that anyone with a thirst for thoughtfulness gets a chance to search for this gleaming movie.

The Apartment is an insightful movie made by one of cinema’s most talented directors. The dwelling is fairly simple, but C.C. Baxter’s (Jack Lemmon) is anything but. By innocently lending out his apartment to a coworker, Baxter’s status becomes the savor nest for his philandering colleagues. Along the scheme, Baxter develops a friendship with Fran Kubelik (Shirley Maclaine), one of several ravishing female elevator operators. Baxter is rewarded for his generosity by getting promoted by Jeff D. Sheldrake (Fred MacMurray) . Diminutive does he realize that Fran is Sheldrake’s latest plaything. The Apartment has all that you question from the best of Wilder: grand performances, witty dialogue, and a location that holds to this day, even if most of the depiction of the corporate office environment has changed dramatically (When was the last time you saw an elevator operator? ) . The three stars provide spacious characterizations, with MacMurray the trusty surprise here playing against type. This film is also primary for solidifying the Wilder/Lemmon team. With The Apartment, Lemmon was no longer playing second male leads or supporting roles. A worthwhile film that is unruffled delicious today, but the DVD version leaves great to be desired. The record quality is wonderful, but the looping (the sound synchronization) is off and very distracting. Don’t know the reason for this, but considering this film’s station in cinema history, I would have opinion it would have gotten the A treatment. The DVD is a disappointment.

Oscar also honored legendary director Billy Wlider for his work as director and another for screenplay along with I.A.L. Diamond. The music by Adolph Deutsch is as sweet as the account and will stop with you for quite some time after the idea.

Overall the DVD was quite first-rate. This 43 year old-fashioned film looked glowing proper. It could expend a cramped improvement. There were times when it showed it’s age, but the shadowy and white images were positive and shiny for the most section.The sound is in Dolby Dig MONO!….”Some Like It Hot” made only 1 year prior to this one, has been enhanced with Dol Dig 5.1(on both DVD editions) and sounds huge.The Special Edition of “SLIH”, even gives you the choice of watching it in the 5.1 or the recent mono. This is a film that deserves at least the same attention. It may be veiwed in French and Spanish and has subtitles in those langauges as well. But..there are no subtitles or captions in English for hearing impaired viewers to delight in this huge classic and that is a shame. This is a film that should be enjoyed by all! MGM..maybe it’s time for a current edition of this worship.

This is quite possibly the finest fraction of stand-up comdey ever captured on film. Richard Pryor is at his absolute best, and the material is identifiable, concept provoking, and most of all, uproariously laughable. The first fifteen or twenty minutes is an extraordinary outburst of energy, and will have the viewer laughing out loud almost non-stop. Pryor is immense at turning everyday occurances into something everybody can laugh at, and even painful moments can transform into material. There are not enough words in the english language to adequately record how droll this performance is, and I have personally seen it nearly 10 times. The language is strong, but this really does not diminish or distract from the material itself.

My only observation may be that the negative reviews have all been for the DVD copy, which evidently is not up to quality standards. This is certainly not the case with the video cassette version, and I can only recommend that this edition be purchased. All other reviews have been 5/5 stars, and the terrible quality DVD edition should be taken off the market until it can be remastered.

While the past few decades have seen the emergence of tons of comedians who spit out swears and graphic subject matter with reckless abandon, precious few have taken offensive subject matter and turned it into something shiny and spirited at the same time. Denis Leary, Bill Hicks, and Dave Chappelle near to mind when I reflect of such a seize group, but Richard Pryor may well have towered over them all. And 1979′s Richard Pryor: Live in Concert may have been his definitive document. This 90-minute standup DVD sees Pryor giving a manic, imaginative, deliriously profane performance that had the audience in the palm of his hand from beginning to kill. A master impersonator with a gigantic pantheon of characters and voices, Pryor didn’t impartial talk about his subjects, he *became* them; he acted out every person, every fable, and every conception to the fullest extent possible, constantly blurring the line between precise and make-believe. Jokes about animals posthaste gave intention to spot-on imitations, whether of the inner thoughts of Dobermans or of his pet monkey’s illicit sexual activities. Pryor’s musings about racial differences in expressing difficulty were amusing and insightful, but they were merely a setup for an nasty recounting of his grandmother’s reaction to his cocaine habit. There are also plenty of brutally objective stories about Pryor’s life with his father, ranging from his father’s death in mid-coitus (“he came and went at the same time”), to the one time Pryor stood up to his ragged man (“It wasn’t really a fight, but I did the best I could”), and their time hunting together (“I hated being the dog”) . Pryor’s honesty and insightfulness approach out in plenty of other places too, from his troubles with the law to his heart attack to his less-than-stellar boxing career. All throughout, though, no matter what the subject, Pryor piles on joke after insight after impression with pitch-perfect timing and plenty of scatological language. For those of any age, accelerate, or political leaning, this is a must-see.

Woww the package looks nice, but after the Complete 3rd Season on DVD I became dissapointed about the DVD realeses, objective didn’t like the original music, could TPTB sight that all the Creek fans ( Creekers, which I’m proudly portion of) loved not only the whole memoir but also the music, the only intention to take this situation will be that the episodes were unbiased like the ones airing on the reruns.

I opinion the Gloomy and White images were keen and positive. Not quite as radiant as the others, but an delectable belief none the less. The sound does need to be turned up quite a bit more than usual, but the dialouge always distinguishable and the delicate music added greatly to the sage. The DVD gives the choice of “Chace Stereo” or the novel mono.I viewed it in the ‘Chace’, and my DVD decoded it in Digital 1.0) .There is an origianl theatrical trailer which is actually fun to peruse. And..if you believe the film transfer is not the greatest, compare it to this trailer….what a incompatibility.It may be viewed in French and Spanish,and also has subtitles in those languages as well…but no subtitles or captions in English for those that might need them..this classic should be made for all to appreciate! For this reason alone, I am going with 4 stars(instead of 5) for the package.

This genlte film, based on Robert Nathan’s heavenly fable, has the warmth of a cup of hot cider by the fireplace during a icy December day. There is something detached and magical about it, like the hush of the world when it snows. Cary Grant and Loretta Young are a joy to behold together, their easy chemistry as welcome as popcorn balls and candy canes.

Directed by Henry Koster, with some nice photography from Gregg Toland, the screenplay by Robert E. Sherwood and Leonardo Bercovici captures perfectly the sentimental fantasy feel of all Robert Nathan’s glowing work. Cary Grant convinced producer Samuel Goldwyn to let him picture the role of Dudley rather than the bishop, and after seeing this film, it would be difficult to imagine it any other design.

Cary Grant always made everything peep easy, but unbiased how worthy work went into that illusion is exemplified by this film. Before shooting began, Grant could not ice skate, play the harp, or explain any French. By the time “The Bishop’s Wife” was finished shooting, he could do all three. It was truly an accomplishment of handsome preportions. The film itself was nominated for an Academy Award as Best Portray, and received another nomination for Best Director.

Henry Brogham (David Niven) is a newly appointed Episcopalian bishop trying to derive funds for a ample cathedral he wants to form. He is selling out exiguous by microscopic to the demands of Mrs. Hamilton (Gladys Cooper), who helped win him his appointment and has the money he needs to accomplish his dream advance factual. But he has forgotten about his wife’s happiness in his quest to create the massive church, and when he prays for direction from God, he gets more than he bargained for.

Dudley and Julia inaugurate to like the slight and amazing things a couple in fancy should part together, while Henry continues to fret over the cathedral. Henry has forgotten that he prayed for guidance, not a huge church.

It is snowing all through this film, and there are many sweet moments between Dudley and Julia. Honest the simple pleasure of a drag down the street and having lunch at a familiar region are given assist to Julia, as she is made to feel appreciated again. She finally splurges and buys the hat she’s been staring at through the shop window for weeks. It is a moment of self-worth, restored by Dudley’s attention. There is a magical ice-skating scene as Dudley makes it possible for Julia to flit like an feeble hand over the ice.

This movie is better and more interesting the Haggard, and I’ve watched Haggard more than any other film in my collection. Minhags is far from the HIM music video that filled about half of Haggard. Haha

I’ll try not to spoil anything but things like the “gays”, STD observe, and Bruno construct this film gigantic. Brandon DiCamillo plays multiple characters to the finest.

I dilapidated to detest the Character Ralph, but have grown to actually like his parts. Brandon Novak plays the “Satisfied Biker.” Some of those parts are hard to inspect but are some of the funniest scenes in any movie ever.

I guess you have to have a distinct sense of humor to like this stuff. But Minghags easily tops 99% of the Hollywood comedies produced. Bam really did declare with a quality sequel, all the delays in the release were worth the wait.

I Adore THIS MOVIE.

I must say, after reading some of the other reviews about this movie, i was a diminutive skeptical of how advantageous it actually was going to be. Im a sizable fan of Haggard, and i didnt question remarkable from Minghags because of what alot of people had told me. But, staying accurate to the crew, i bought the movie on the fact that i reflect they are extraordinary, and im a colossal fan. I was very gratified when i saw the movie, I really like it, but i consider you have to be a mammoth fan of Bam and his work. Its a expansive film, and i like the gradual the scenes, the making of, and also the Dreamseller mini-series. This DVD does, however, lack one notable thing that keeps Bam’s work alive and hilarious. SCROOGE has been a guilty pleasure of mine for many years. As a kid (before cable came along) I hoped that one of the local stations would play the film around Christmas time. I probably haven’t seen SCROOGE since I was 11 or 12 years ancient.

The newly released DVD looks astonishing. The film is 33 years feeble, and its production compose and colors are rendered well on the DVD. The overture is included.

- Alec Guinness is a genius! As Marley’s ghost, Guiness has some very laughable moments. Survey his performance closely: Guiness achieves “ghostliness” without the serve of digital effects. Examine him “float” parts of his body, especially his hands when he sits down. The slip, the whisper, the “floating”. Simply shining.

- There are several very splendid songs. My favorites: “I Like Life”, “Thank You Very Considerable”, and “Happiness”.

- I actually like the flashbacks when Scrooge is young and in care for. Very touching. And splendid.

- They really edited this film for TV! There’s scenes in SCROOGE that I’ve *never* seen before; specifically, the scene in hell at the kill. Comic!

So, even though SCROOGE brought Christmas into my house in September, it was a welcomed, early celebration.

While this version of the classic Dickens’ account did not receive famous acclaim, it remains one of my favorites and richly deserves this DVD release.

Albert Finney is magical in his portrayal of Scrooge, transforming his physical appearance through the art of makeup and attractive acting from a robust youth to an old-fashioned man during the course of the account.

The supporting cast is also distinguished, and the songs add flavor to the overall atmosphere of Dickens’ era London, as well as titanic and unexpected depth to the core theme of the story: the precarious reclamation of a person’s soul.

Dickens’ knowing myth manages to utter religious themes without preaching, and provides an accessible character in Scrooge that we can understand, root for, and ultimately, rejoice with and learn from when his heart is turned outward to his fellow man.

Vastly engrossing and remarkably modern, this life-affirming version of “A Christmas Carol,” along with many of its songs, will end with viewers long after the final credits have rolled. For me, “Scrooge” has become a treasured Christmas tradition alongside so many other beloved yule time favorites. I applaud its long overdue DVD release!
